Passiflora racemosaPassiflora racemosa 3

The passion flower is a large and robust liana of 5 to 10 m native to Brazil. The flowers have a structure which evokes the passion of Christ. The stigmas symbolize the nails used in the Crucifixion, the five suspended and split stamens at maturity correspond to the body wounds, and the crown of filaments to the crown of thorns.
